At Clear & SIMPLE™ we believe that enjoying your
family and loved ones is the gift of the holidays. Below we will share
with you our tips for making your season brighter!
| Lisa's List - Tips for the Holidays |
 |
|
I love the Holidays and all the things associated
with them from decorating my home to baking cookies to hosting holiday
parties. However, sometimes it is more than my wits and patience can
take, so I would like to share with you some of the principles I apply
to these weeks to make them a time of joy and peace. |
|
1. Determine This Year's Traditions
- Meet with your family and friends to determine what the most
meaningful traditions are for them. Then calendar these activities and
let go of those that no longer serve you and your family. Take time to
enjoy these activities together.
2. Make Decorating a Family Affair - Choose a
day when all family/household members can get together and assign them
a task (utilize what is most meaningful to them). Play holiday music
and have special treats to make this an activity that everyone enjoys.
3. Holiday Party Idea - Would you
like to plan a party with meaning? Then consider a Sub-for-
Santa party. Through your friends, family, church or school, find a
family or families that need help this holiday season. Invite your
family, friends, and neighbors for a pot luck dinner. Ask them to bring
food and a contribution ($15 each). After everyone has eaten, divide
into groups, give each group a name, money and time limit to go
shopping for a member of the Sub-for-Santa family. Encourage them to be
as bold as they can in getting discounts from retailers. Upon
everyone's return, while enjoying a dessert, have each group present
their shopping story and gifts. You will have a great time while making
someone else's holiday a little brighter! |
|
4. Toys - Take time with your children before Santa
comes, to sort through their current toys. You can determine if the
toys are broken (toss), not relevant (give away), or just right. They
can see how letting go of something creates room for new treasures.
There are several organizations that will appreciate toys that are
working and in good condition this time of year. Be sure and take your
children along when you donate, so they can see for themselves the
benefits of their choice. For a resource list for children's toys
contact kelly@clearsimple.com.
5. Top Three Things - Every morning when
you are planning your day, write down the three things that are most
important to you. This allows you to let go of everything else floating
around in your head. |
|
6. Take Time Every Day to Enjoy the Peace and Joy of the
Season Light a candle, express your gratitude, take 10 minutes to
journal what the holidays mean to you, play music, visit a friend,
CELEBRATE!
7. Organize Last Years Paper - As the
year ends, make a date with your filing cabinet and spend an afternoon
going
through all of the papers from 2006. Take out the years papers, place
them in an envelope by month and year and put in an archival file box.
Pack up the tax relevant papers for your accountant and you are ready
for the new year! If you would like your papers organized and don't
want to do it yourself, call us 801.463.9090, we would love to come and
help you. |

Marla's Message |
|
|
If you could have one gift of this holiday
season, what would you want? If you let go of the past years with all
their stuff and leave the future to the future, what would you want
now? I know what I want. I want to feel deep, meaningful connection
with my close loved ones. I want to live in gratitude one moment at a
time. I want to create beauty and peace in my home. Every year I get
better at letting go of all I think I should do and enjoying all that
is.
Celebration can happen easily, creating itself, if we let go of the
energy of effort and surrender to the magic of the moment. I invite you
to celebrate this time in simple, yet deeply meaningful, ways.
